“The truth is: the natural world is changing. And we are totally dependent on that world. It provides our food, water and air. It is the most precious thing we have and we need to defend it.”
- Sir David Attenborough
The science is clear.
The 2018 UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report issued a stark warning that we are reaching dangerous, irreversible tipping points that call for immediate action. Droughts, flooding, forest fires, storms and ocean die-off are already affecting much of the world’s population.
The UN’s first comprehensive report on biodiversity (May 2019) stated that nature is in serious trouble. Extinction is looming for over 1 million species. If we do not take action immediately, the scientific prediction is that, within our lifetimes, we will hit a level of global heating considered incompatible with human civilisation.
We are the last generation that can take on the challenge of stabilising our climate and avoiding catastrophic climate change. We campaign for policy makers at all levels to unite behind the science and take immediate and far reaching action to mitigate the current ecological and climate disaster that we and our children are facing.
This requires honesty from the media and a huge and rapid shift in political will and long-term vision from our leaders. We need to drastically reduce emissions and waste, whilst protecting all wildlife and re-wilding on a vast scale.
